As a modern culture, we are surviving because we are most adapted to our environment. The catch is, we are also actively creating that environment.
Some people talk about the past in terms of the silly things people once believed, and then talk about the present in terms of the profound things we now know. The wording is significant. We used to believe, but now we know. But have we really arrived, or we are stuck in another faddish -ism of some kind that future scholars will all find amusing, naïve, and at least incomplete if not flat wrong?
